Outgoing connections blocked by iptables
Outgoing connections blocked by iptables
I just installed a fresh installation on a Ubuntu 18.04 server. I configured the domains, packages and users, and activated the firewall (iptables). However, when I tried downloading something using wget it did not work. Also pinging to several external domains did not work. Even using ssh to connect to another server of mine elsewhere was not possible.
I tried Googling it, but the only solution was this guide (https://www.lowendguide.com/3/networkin ... s-lookups/) from 2015. The solution works but when I reboot the server and activate iptables again it gives the same issue. By this I'm afraid that if I apply some other settings, it will reset the iptables and I have to manually add the rules again.
Furthermore I saw only a single related forumpost, originated in 2015 too, which hasn't been answered. Similar issues on this on the Github were created in 2018.
WHY IS THIS STILL NOT FIXED?
Anyhow: is there a more permanent solution available to this?

Re: Outgoing connections blocked by iptables
Even if It's a quite odd solution: you should try installing VestaCP without including IP-Tables and use it "canonically" without the panel.
Have you encountered this issue with the last version of VestaCP?
How did this error emerge? And when? Can u provide more details?
Did you get errors or warnings while installing vesta?
I personally had no problem Pinging, Testing, setting DNS, open other software ports or downloading, but I'm not in Ubuntu "18.04".
This looks really interesting, hope the VestaCP staff can investigate the problem.
Let me know how it goes: I was planning to upgrade to 18.04, but maybe I can wait...
