Vesta Updates

Post by Graham » Fri Oct 11, 2013 11:40 pm

In the Vesta C.P on Ubuntu 12.0.4, if I go into 'Updates' the vesta core package is showing as outdated.

Selecting the package, then update from the drop-down. Always results in:
Error: vesta update failed

I also notice on the Updates page that the version/release/architecture items are not displaying.

I did notice the same thing and encountered the same error. I thought it interesting, but I suspect that it may simply be just that it's due to differences between how Vesta is set up on RHEL-based distros and Debian-based distros.

Yeah, that's right. Web updates are working only on RHEL and CentOS. This functionality will be introduced in the next release on Ubuntu and Debian.

Vesta 0.9.8-5 release date 14/10/13

You will be able to update your vesta setup using

Code: Select all

apt-get upgrade or apt-get install vesta

Thanks skid, I had tried that and just tried it again now. The control panel is still reporting that vesta core package is outdated.

Any suggestions?

If you've any suggestions as to what's wrong I'm missing with the nginx/apache2 url rewriting issues for WordPress, I'd really appreciate those too.

Thanks

Excellent, I like the fact that I can simply issue an apt-get update && apt-get upgrade command in Ubuntu to upgrade Vesta.

I've added this to my internal documentation so that I can keep things working. Obviously, it seems like there aren't a lot of Ubuntu users testing this functionality, so let us know if you need us to test specific items. :)
