installing wp via ftp

Hello every one!
I am trying to install wordpress via ftp but every time after that I sent the files,when iam trying to access /wp-admin,
i face 404 error;the directory installed is public_shtml and the domain uses ssl.
what should I do now?

Hello, regardless of using SSL or No, you must install the application on ./public_html

coreXL is right, you should use public_html, not public_shtml. If you use ssl, you can switch the directory in ssl section to public_shtml, but never used it.
