[Solved] Error: domain foo.com exist
Hi All,
I'm having an error and I'm not sure why it's happening. Basically, to give some background:
My relevant users are as follows:
i.e. I have one user holding stats.foo.com, and another one holding dev.foo.com and (hopefully) foo.com, however when I try to add foo.com, I get the error "Error: domain foo.com exist", even though it does not.
I have checked all of my other accounts, and none of them include the base domain foo.com
My version of grep is 2.14, just looking at another similar error, but for mail aliases
Am I missing something here?
Thanks in advance,
Rob

Re: Error: domain foo.com exist
So what you're saying is you setup the subdomains first and then tried to add the actual domain and that is what is giving you problems?
Generally I don't think it's a good idea to use separate users with subdomains and that might be the issue here, though I could be wrong. Generally speaking, normally you would setup the domain first, then the subdomains and have them under one user, but you would have different ftp logins for each subdomain to separate them well this is if you're using something like cpanel etc.
I'm not too sure, but VestaCP might be different it might not be, or this might be something that isn't implemented or fully supported yet. You may want to put everything under one user and go from there.

Re: Error: domain foo.com exist
That's correct, yeah.
I'll just move the possibly rogue subdomain to the main user and see if that fixes things, cheers

Re: Error: domain foo.com exist
seriously... I did all that, the transfer went perfectly I'm glad to say, but then I noticed my admin account had a dns record for the domain I wanted to add, I deleted it and it now works... I have no words
Re: [Solved] Error: domain foo.com exist
I could NOT add (my_domain.com) under user (my_domain) because it already was on the server. I finally figured it out. You have to login to vesta control panel as the admin that installed vestacp. Once log in as admin account click on web then delete the domain there (my_domain.com). Then click back on user's at the top and log back in as user = (my_domain) then you can click on web, then add my domain (my_domain.com).
For some reason vestacp install put's the domain name entered in user account admin, and not the right user's account. Maybe someone knows programming and can fix this ?
