Access WordPress in a sub folder for dev

Hi,
I just created a new domain on Vesta and ftp'ed WordPress into respective folder. Now I am looking to develop a new version of an existing site with WordPress. Once that's done I am going to change the DNS of the existing site to point to the new one.
Q:
How can I access the WordPress installation on my server in its subfolder so that I can develop it?

You can make dev domain. Add domain like dev.site.com and in DNS add A-record for dev.
