DKIM Setup on Ubuntu 12.04.5 x64, Vesta Core 0.9.8 (amd64)
DKIM Setup on Ubuntu 12.04.5 x64, Vesta Core 0.9.8 (amd64)
Hi I installed VestaCP on Ubuntu 12.04.5 x64 a couple of days ago and have had a great deal of success so far. Endless thanks go to the developers.
I am looking to get DKIM working properly for two separate domains that resolve to one IP address. Both mail domains have DKIM checked.
1) Only one of the domains had a DKIM DNS records automatically generated. I read that each domain needs to have its own DNS record. Is there a way that I can get Vesta to regenerate DNS records for both domains? Adding a new mail domain failed to generate a new DNS record.
2) I have found a number of online DKIM generators that will generate private and public keys and the DKIM records based on a given domain. Do I need a private key for each domain, or a shared one?
3) After much reading I have found that the private key is stored in /home/admin/conf/mail/mydomain.com/dkim.pem. Do I need to make any other changes / add any other references into any other files to make externally generated key sets work?
Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Checking the DKIM support box for the mail domain should generate the DKIM keys for you, try using this command:
To spit out what you need to put into the DNS TXT record of your registrar's zone file. (or your vesta DNS server as the case may be if not already automatically inserted, which I'm unaware if this occurs.)
Code: Select all
v-list-mail-domain-dkim-dns USER DOMAIN [FORMAT]

Thanks for the useful comment, that command might be useful in future.
What I found was that a DKIM record had not been generated for a new domain even with the DKIM checkbox ticked. I found here:
http://germanystudy.net/setting-up-vest ... pt-emails/
that you can issue
and the DKIM DNS records will be generated fresh. You can then copy the generated records from the DNS tab to wherever DNS is hosted.
