Install/upgrade to Php5.6@debian

Hi, I am new to server.
I need php5.6+mysql running in debian VPS.

In Debian7 running in virtualbox,
I tried to add dotdeb.org source first, and then run vestacp's script, everything went perfect, I got php 5.6, and mysql (also 5.6).
but I did the exact same routine in my VPS, it cannot be finished. could someone give me a hint that where I should look into?

OR

what if I install php5.4 +mysql using vestacp's script (by default), then upgrade to php5.6+mysql 5.6, will it be done? and how?
(my situation now is, even after I finished the upgrade, I cannot connect to mysql)

P.S. sorry for my english, hope someone would give me some help.

I cannot even get it done by using pre-complied php5.6, and you asked me to compile them myself?

at least tell me where to find the vestacp's install log, so i can know where the problem locates.
