how to move to https from http
how to move to https from http
Hi,
I have a vesta and my site runs on the public_http folder, what should I do in order to run the SSL ?
I know there is the public_https folder as well, should I move all my files there and then install the SSL certificate?
Is there a proper procedure for this?
Thank-you!

Re: how to move to https from http
just enable SSL and put your cert. values in appropriate places... you can run it from the present public_html directory
Re: how to move to https from http
1) Buy a SSL certificate -- I'm paying under $20 for 3 years so no point in messing around trying to get free options
2) Install the certificate using VestaCP -- basically you just copy and paste some files that the SSL issuer e-mails you plus the key that VestaCP generated into the appropriate boxes in VestaCP.
That is it. The site will now work in http and https but personally I prefer to have sites only ever be https so step 3 would be to add a redirect to .htaccess to redirect all requests over http to https.

Re: how to move to https from http
Let's encrypt is for free. In the new update from today (0.9.8-17) you can apply SSL via the GUI.
Just go edit your domain and click the button "SSL support" and choose "Let's encrypt". If your files are stored in "public_html" choose this and safe.
I get an error, this method does not work when I have assigned aliases for my domain (www.blabla.tld), maybe you are more lucky or maybe you don't need aliases.
