there is a hack around here to installthis which lets you install without a problem... I tested myself
but
I experienced a weird issue that the fresh VPS installed in the above way would have high idling load of +95%. This was on an AWS EC2 instance, though I did not dig deep into it but I think it is because of some VestaCP schedules CRON Job scripts that may be causing it as reported here by me

So I would NOT recommend doing this esp. when the new version v17 is on the verge

Looking forward to it as I want to migrate to new server running Ubuntu 16 but I want to do that with officially compatible version of VestaCP.

I know about this workaround which I already tested on my Hyper-V but I had some troubles there, therefore I'd rather wait for official support.
