ok, The reason upgrade was failing on my system was because /boot/ was full and had no more space.

#df -h
root@vesta:/var/log/vesta# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda1 228M 222M 0 100% /boot

I'm not sure, how to correctly free space on it. See here:

What's the command to update it via CLI?
