Post by shua » Mon Nov 10, 2014 2:14 pm

I'm getting this error every day and clamd not running

/etc/cron.daily/freshclam:

ERROR: Problem with internal logger (UpdateLogFile = /var/log/clamav/freshclam.log).
ERROR: Can't open /var/log/clamav/freshclam.log in append mode (check permissions!).

the permission for
ls -l /var/log/clamav/freshclam.log
-rw-r--r-- 1 clamav clamav 0 Oct 26 03:26 /var/log/clamav/freshclam.log

and for this
ls -l /etc/cron.daily
I get
total 20
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 232 Oct 10 05:22 exim-tidydb
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 150 Jun 17 06:23 freshclam
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 196 Jul 18 2013 logrotate
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 905 Feb 21 2013 makewhatis.cron
-rwxrwxr-x 1 root root 44 Mar 21 2014 ntpdate

Sorry I'm a newbie but whats wrong with the permissions?

Yes it does remove the cron you said,
shua wrote:I'm getting this error every day and clamd not running
which to me means you dont use clamd. But anyways check to make sure /var/log/clamav/freshclam.log is a real file and let me know what the permissions are and who the owner of the file is.

Also can you provide the following file

Ubuntu

Code: Select all
