Can't Receive Emails from external sources

Post by timauld » Sun Apr 27, 2014 10:19 pm

Hi, I have just installed Vesta Cp on Ubuntu 12.04. I did it as a completely clean install, i.e. the very first thing I did after the OS installation was install Vesta. I have been struggling to get a mail service running. Dovecot has proved very difficult. Finally the Vesta CP has Exim and Dovecot running successfully. I have created an email account using Vesta and I can sent to an external email account. I can receive internally, e.g. I can send to myself. But I can't receive emails from external servers.

I ran the MxToolBox tools on my domain "auld.us" and I can't see anything particularly wrong, except that it seems to very slow responding on port 25.

I was wondering if something in Ubuntu 12.04 is doing greylisting, but after several hours Googling, I can't see anything that is setup on the server that could be "greylisting". Do you have any suggestions?

Regards ... Tim.

I had a same problem but my dovecot was not running properly.
Vesta always said dovecot is stopped and it will never start .
So i went to CentOS from Ubuntu and everything is fine.
Run Command

Code: Select all

v-list-sys-services
It should give you output like

Code: Select all

httpd running 0 733 318
named running 0 47 318
exim running 0 15 318
dovecot running 0 2 318

Check this
v-list-sys-services
Then check ports for mail - firewall? not blocked?
