Email domain alias
  • Quote

Post by Martin » Sat Mar 01, 2014 12:04 pm

I'm installing my new server with Vesta CP and everything is working great! Only one thing I can't figure out is how to add an email domain alias. For web it is pretty simple, just add an alias :)
But how to do it for email? I want mydomain.org to have the same emailaddresses (and mail accounts) as mydomain.com, so that [email protected] will be delivered at [email protected]

There no simple/standart way.
Control Panel don't have this option yet.

Are there any plans to add this in the future? This is something I would need for my sites.

I was looking for something like that and since I couldn't find anything, I've come up with the following:
  • Create both domains
  • Create an .htaccess file on one domain that will do a 301 redirect to the other domain (like this)
  • Create both email addresses
  • Through VestaCP, configure one email address to forward everything to the other
The only thing that doesn't seem to work is the Do not store forwarded mail check box.I was expecting the mailbox to be empty when this was checked, but that's not the case. This could become a problem when the mailbox gets full.

It would be nice to know if the devs are planning to solve this.
