How to reinstall vsftpd

Hi,

i was having problems with ftp not being able to login so I used this tutorial to change to proftp

but that hasnt fixed the issue of (Login failed): Incorrect password.

so im wondering how do I now uninstall proftpd and reinstall vsftpd on a vista install.

any help would be mush appreciated.
