FTP error 530 changing from vsftpd to proftpd

Post by madesite » Wed Oct 15, 2014 7:33 pm

Hi Guys,

First off I would like to congradulate the guys from Vesta CP I love this software!

I have cent os 6.5 running Vestacp everything worked untill i got to ftp errors after reading the following post:

viewtopic.php?f=40&t=4783

I did as instructed and installed proftpd. It worked eventually trying it 3 times (removing, reinstalling)

When i create an additional ftp account and try to log in it gives me the error 530. I have tried all sorts in the proftpd.conf commenting out and changing user group to ftp, root, different users etc.

# Set the user and group that the server normally runs at.
User nobody
Group nobody

I have also tried logging in through ftp standard port 21 & 22 what ever I try still results in error 530.

I have just about given up and would try putting back vsftpd but not sure how to do that, hope someone can help.

Regards,
Richard
