Folder and Files Ownership

Post by rickyseptiawan » Fri Apr 29, 2016 6:14 am

Hi There,

I have spawned a new server and installed vesta panel and magento.
However, when Magento created a folder / files after the installation, somehow the ownership of the files and folders is root.
This doesnt allow me to access / modify the new files through FTP.

I would have to change the ownership myself.
Is there a way to default the ownership to "admin" instead?

Thanks !

Something like this in your ssh console:

Code: Select all

chown -R admin:admin /home/admin/web/domain.com/public_html/

Yes that's what I did every time.

But then every time magneto creates a new folder / file again , the ownership of that specific folder / file is going to be root again .

That should not be like that... but anyways
you can remove Magento and then install it as 'admin' so that whenever it runs some update or anything, it doesn't reset your folder permissions.

enable bash for admin in VestaCP. Login to SSH and su admin then perform all actions inside /domain/public_html
