Updating the counters via web ui does not work (but cli works)

After some experimentation I observed that when a new backup is created the counter number is wrong (+1 actually). However, updating the counters via cli (via web ui does not work) the counter number is corrected.

Any idea why the counters are messed up or how can I make the web ui work? To be honest, is really inconvenient to have to login via terminal to my VPS just to update the counters after every backup.
