Unable to get local issuer certificate

I have this issue with the email SSL certification and have been looking how I can fix this problem.

Certificate 1 of 1 in chain: Cert VALIDATION ERROR(S): unable to get local issuer certificate; unable to verify the first certificate

So email is encrypted but the recipient domain is not verified
Cert Hostname VERIFIED mail.domain.com

any help would be great thanks I have spent hours on this:(

OK I have fixed this issue by following these steps, hopefully i can help out someone thats was as frustrated as me and got no help in return.
